Our lotion blends shea butter, pomegranate oil and natural extracts to hydrate and brighten skin. Made in small batches using a gentle double‑boiler emulsification method to preserve active benefits.
This recipe produces a stable, skin‑friendly lotion using borax as the emulsifier and natural butters and oils for nourishment. Follow safety notes and instructions below.

Ingredients (measured)
Water phase
4.0 L distilled water
200 g Borax (sodium borate)
Oil phase (double‑boiler)
100 g Stearic acid
70 g Cetyl alcohol
50 g E‑wax (emulsifying wax)
250 g Shea butter or cocoa butter
40 ml Glycerin
40 ml Rose water
Additives (post‑emulsion)
20 g Vitamin C powder (add only if properly stabilized and dissolved; note pH effect)
45 ml Pomegranate oil
10 ml Vitamin E oil
20 ml Giga White oil (or other brightening oil/active)
Fragrance or essential oil as desired (follow usage rates)
Procedure — step by step
1) Prepare the water phase
1. Pour 4.0 L distilled water into a large pot and warm over low to medium heat. Do not boil — heat only until warm (comfortable to touch, roughly 40–60°C).
2. Remove from heat and gradually stir in 200 g Borax until fully dissolved.
3. Allow the water/Borax mixture to cool to about 40–50°C (warm but not hot).
2) Prepare the oil phase (double boiler)
1. Set up a double boiler: simmer water in a pot and place a heat‑proof bowl or smaller pot on top (no direct flame to ingredients).
2. Add 100 g Stearic acid, 70 g Cetyl alcohol, 50 g E‑wax, 250 g Shea/Cocoa butter, 40 ml Glycerin and 40 ml Rose water into the top pot.
3. Heat gently and stir until everything melts into a homogeneous oily phase. Monitor temperature — target around 65–75°C for full melting.
4. Remove oil phase from heat and allow it to cool slightly (to roughly the same temperature range as the water phase — around 50–60°C is ideal for emulsification).
3) Emulsification
1. Slowly pour the warm oil phase into the warm water/Borax phase while stirring continuously.
2. Use a hand mixer or stick blender to mix thoroughly for several minutes until the mixture turns into a creamy, homogeneous emulsion.
3. Continue mixing while the lotion cools; mix intermittently to keep the emulsion uniform.
4) Add actives and oils
1. When the lotion has cooled to below 40°C, add the Vitamin C powder (if used and stable in your formulation), Pomegranate oil (45 ml), Vitamin E oil (10 ml), Giga White oil (20 ml) and any fragrance.
2. Mix gently but thoroughly with the hand mixer or spatula.
5) Final adjust and dilution
If you want a lighter lotion, add small amounts of cooled distilled water to reach the desired consistency — add gradually and mix well.
Check pH (recommended). Adjust if necessary to reach a skin‑friendly pH (about 4.5–6.0) — note: Borax raises pH, and Vitamin C is acidic.
